Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, who was appointed Managing Director of SIC Insurance during the Akuffo-Addo led administration has refused to hand-over to President Mahama’s newly appointed MD for the government institution.
Reports say Hollistar has locked the MD’s office and has kept the key to herself.. According to the newly appointed MD, James Agyenim-Boateng, Hollistar has still not presented him with her handing-over notes and she has declined an introductory meeting as well.
“It has become apparent that the real difficulty regarding why I have note been able to access the office is because my predecessor has actually locked up the office and bolted with the keys. It is strange,” said Mr. Agyenim-Boateng in an interview with Citi Eyewitness News on February 5, 2025.
Amid the standoff, Hollistar is said to have filed an interlocutory injunction at the High Court to prevent the new appointee from assuming office. The motion filed by her lawyer E.N Poku Esq, also seeks to prevent the company from recognizing Agyenim-Boateng as the new MD.
In her defence, Hollistar has argued that in order for her termination to be justified, there needs to be adherence to the terms of agreement under which she was employed. According to her, her appointment is to span a period of four years, which will end in 2028.
She argued that in the case of terminating her employment, she is entitled to a lump sum payment of gross salary, allowance and benefits for the unexpired period of the agreement. This, she said has to be done at the official handing-over ceremony.
“Take notice, that this honourable Court shall be moved by E.N POKU ESQ, Counsel for and on behalf of the Plaitiff/Applicant herein praying this honourable Court for an oder restraining the Defendants/Respondents herein as follows:
“a. 2nd Defendant from acting or purporting to act as the Managing Director of the 1st Defendant/Respondent.
“b. Defendants/Respondents from describing or holding 2nd Defendant/Respondent out, as the managin director of the 1st Defendant/Resondent” said the document.

Hollistar’s appointment in May 2024 falls under the category of what many described as last-minute appointments under the Akuffo-Addo administration. These were appointments made by the former president just few months to the general election.
The appointments received criticisms, with the then candidate of the NDC, now President John Dramani Mahama warning the appointees of a termination of such late employments when he wins the election.
Poised to deliver on his promises, the president is making new appointments under his administration and revoking the appointment of many indivduals under the NPP led government.
