Following a shooting incident which took place last Saturday, in Salaga Senior High School in the Savanah Region, resulting in many sustaining injuries, three suspects are set to be arraigned before the Salaga Magistrate Court today, Thursday February 6, 2025.
The three suspects include students from Salaga SHS and non-students from the East Gonja Municipality.
The suspects were initially sent to court but there was no magistrate available, however, they have been provisionally charged with unlawful possession of firearm and causing harm, as well as other charges.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, during a routine school entertainment, when two groups of day students from Kpembe and Salaga towns became engaged in a heated confrontation.
One of the students from the group retreated and later returned with a group of individuals, which later led to the shooting incident, where many sustained injuries.
The police arrested 20 suspects but later released 17 of them after screening. Meanwhile, parents of the students have called the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), to host an emergency meeting to discuss the incident and other security concerns in the school.
