Kwame Jantuah, a member of the Convention People’s party, says Muntaka Mohammed, the Minister of Interior, must come owes the public an explanation for the recent raid of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta’s home by armed men in military uniform.
He was speaking during an interview on TV3’s New Day on Friday February 14, 2025.
The raid was carried out in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
As he condemned the act, Mr. Jantuah called on the Interior Minister to apologise, and believes that although the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has already apologised, his apology is not enough.
According to him, the President himself might have no knowledge about the incident but some public perception, especially those of the opposition show otherwise, due to how the raid was carried out.
“It paints a certain picture when the President is concerned, and you hear the opposition talk that it is Mahama. He might not know nothing about it. Was he advised? Was he told that thing was going to happen?,” he said.
He has, therefore, called upon the Minister of Interior to render an apology and give an explanation for the action.
He stated, “So the Interior Minister should come and explain to us why it happened. The Majority Leader apologizing on his behalf is not enough. Come and tell us why it happened,” reiterating that the minister’s earlier apology is not sufficient.
“Does it lie in the mouth of the Majority Leader to come and apologise? I believe it’s the Interior Minister, who is responsible for security services. I felt it is the Interior Minister who should have come to Parliament to tell us why it happened,” he argued.
