President John Dramani Mahama is set to deliver his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) after assuming office.
The President is set to deliver the address next week Thursday, February 27, 2025. It is a constitutional requirement that the President of Ghana, gives his State of the Nation’s Address following a new sitting of Parliament.
According to Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Minister for Governmental Communications, the fulfilment of this constitutional requirement by President John Dramani Mahama, will serve as an opportunity for him to reveal the current economic state of the country, what the government intends to do and what they had inherited from the Akuffo-Addo-led government.
He said, “President John Dramani Mahama will delve deeply into our current economic situation, what we inherited and the plans, moving forward, to ensure economic revival.” The Minister made this statement on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Mr. Kwakye also announced that there will be a National Economic Dialogue which will be held on 3rd and 4th March, 2025, where the various economic stake holders will be expected to meet and deliberate on matters regarding the improvement of the state’s economy.
He also highlighted that the Minister of Finance, Honourable Cassiel Ato Forson, will deliver the government’s first budget to Parliament, on 11th March, 2025. The purpose of presenting the government’s budget is to outline the various policies regarding the country’s economy, as well as presenting the suggested measures that the government seeks to take to overcome the current economic challenges.
