Following the official approval of Parliament’s Appointment Committee on January 9, 2025 the committee is set to vet the ministerial appointees today, January 13, 2025. This is a crucial process which will shape the leadership team of the Mahama-led administration.
The first of the appointees to be vetted today include the Minister-designate for Finance, Dr. Cassel Ato Baah Forson, the current Member of Parliament for Adjumako-Enyan-Esiam and the majority leader in Parliament. Also to be vetted by the committee is John Abdulai Jinapor, who has been nominated as the Minister-designate for the Ministry of Energy. The third appointee to be vetted by Parliament’s Appointment Committee is Dr. Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, the Minister-designate for Justice and proposed Attorney-General for the Republic of Ghana.
Parliament’s Appointment Committee is tasked with recommending and vetting nominees for various ministerial and senior positions in government.
The committee is expected to be transparent as the vetting process is crucial for shaping the leadership team for a new government. It is also a constitutional act which is expected to be undertaken the moment a new government is steps into power.
