Jackie Appiah, a well-known actor, said that her parents never wanted her to be on TV because they wanted her to be a lawyer when she was a child.
Jackie said that she had a hard time as a child because growing up in a family of lawyers made it hard for her to become an actor, which was what she wanted to do.
In an interview with YEN.com, the well-known and award-winning Ghanaian actor said these things.GH’s Oke-Hortons Nosa at the premiere of the Nollywood movie Symphony, in which she played.
From her own mouth;
“When I was a kid, my dad didn’t want me to be an actor. Instead, he wanted me to go to school and pay attention in class. In the movie Symphony, I also played a father who didn’t want his daughter to follow her dreams and become a singer. The real Jackie Appiah liked this movie because it made her think that her daughter should become a doctor or a lawyer.
“I really like this story because it reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad wanted me to be a lawyer because I come from a family of lawyers.”
“My father didn’t understand why I wanted to be an actress. He thought I should be a doctor instead. But I followed my dreams, and now he is having success. He is happy, and so am I.”
Even though Jackie Appiah went after her dream of becoming an actor and, luckily for her, it worked out, she still went back to school.
She just got her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Information Studies from the University of Ghana. This is a very good college.
