Popular and renowned Ghanaian marriage counsellor, Reverend Charlotte Oduro, has stated that none of her two daughters will marry a pastor.
She made the statement during church service on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
“I have two daughters and neither of them will marry a pastor, unless God say, but I’m not sure he will,” she said.
Over the past years, the counsellor who was previously married to a pastor, Apostle Solomon Oduro, General Overseer of the Royal Victory Family Church, has been sharing some challenges associated with being a pastor’s wife. She has also shared her personal experiences and challenges she faced in her pastoral marriage and the effect on her ministry.
Counsellor Oduro made this statement following a confirmation of the dissolution of their marriage, from Apostle Solomon Oduro. He had revealed in a press release on Monday, February 10, 2025, that their traditional marriage was formally dissolved in 2024, and they had been separated for three years.
He stated, “It is with a deep sense of responsibility and solemn reflection that I officially announce the dissolution of my marriage to Reverend Charlotte Oduro. This decision was reached after much prayer, discussion, and careful consideration.”
Many have applauded the counsellor for her bold statement, claiming that she has been honest about the challenges most women face in pastoral marriages. Others have, however, criticised that she is limiting her daughters’ chances of getting married by discouraging them from getting married to pastors.
Known for marriage counseling and some controversial takes on the institution of marriage, Reverend Charlotte Oduro received a fair share of criticism following her divorce, as social media enthusiasts say she was unable to secure her marriage regardless of the knowledge she seems to possess.
