The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah has expressed his opposition towards the termination of late recruitments and appointments under the Akuffo-Addo led administration.
In a new release signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, all appointments made after December 7, 2024 are terminated with immediate effect. Ahead of assuming office, President Mahama had warned of terminating such contracts.
Many are describing the directive as unlawful, as they posit that there ought to be some clarifications on what procedural breaches might have occurred in the appointment of said individuals, leading to the termination.
According to Mr. Assafuah, President Mahama is engaged in political appointment drama and endless committee formation instead of focusing on delivering on his promises.
He argued that it is unfair for persons employed by properly constituted government to be dismissed without proper justification. He has therefore “decided to fight for the affected youth.”
“We are taking this battle to court to ensure that this already failing government does not have unchecked to unjustly terminate hardworking young employees.”
“If this government is serious about job creation, it should be expanding opportunities, not displacing workers,” he shared in a statment dated 11th February, 2025.
He has however affirmed that a future NPP government will reinstate all the affected persons.
Meanwhile, the legislator has asked that all affected individuals reach out to him in order to pursue the case.
