Earlier last week, there were a series of changes made in the administration under the new government.
Few days after his swearing-in, President John Dramani Mahama reduced the 30 ministries to 23, following his campaign promise to work with fewer ministers under his administration in order to reduce government expenditure.
In the same week, he has submitted a list of nominees for some ministries including the Finance ministry and Ministry of Justice.
The President has submitted a list of ten nominees as regional ministers to Parliament, for formal approval, in line with the constitutional provision.
On a peace tour to Bawku today, the President mentioned with regards to maintaining peace and indicated that, “within this week, we will do the appointment of Minister of Defence, the Minister of Interior, the National Security Advisor, and the National Security Coordinator. When we make these appointments, I am going to charge them to make the peace in Bawku number one of their priorities.”
Here is the list of nominees for the position as regional ministers:
Northern Region – Mr. Ali Adolf John
Oti Region – Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong
Volta Region – Mr. James Gunu
Eastern Region – Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey
North-East Region – Ibrahim Tia
Ashanti Region – Dr. Frank Amoakohene
Upper East Region – Akamugri Donatu Abanga
Ahafo Region – Madam Charity Gardiner
Savannah Region – Mr. Sarisu Bi-Awuribe
Greater Accra – Hon. Linda Ocloo
