Chief Executive Officer, Mussa K. Dankwah, of the research based outfit, Globa InfoAnalytics says the current administration must chart a different course from the previous NPP led administration.
Mussa says it is normal that a successive government tend to blame a previous government for economic woes. But the Mahama led government must demonstrate clear plans for economic stability.
His assertion was in response to a X post by the Managing Editor, Kwesi Pratt Jnr of The Insight, saying people should lower their expectations ahead of President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA). According to the managing editor, “it is expected that President Mahama will use the occassion to show how broke Ghana has become.”
“This is important in lowering the people’s expectations and thereby giving the new government some space to deal with Ghana’s hydra-headed problems,” he added.
But the CEO of Global InfoAnalytics says expecting people to lower their expectations is not good enough, as president Mahama must inform the people, through his address, what different approaches he would be using to revive the economy compared to the approaches of the former administration.
“Just lowering expectations is not good enough, he must tell Ghanaians how different he will act compared to the previous administration which will ensure that we get back growth and prosperity. Every new government blames the previous one, it is normal but they must chart a different course with clear plans,” he said.
As mandated by constitutional provisions, President Mahama will be delivering his SONA at 10am today January 27, 2025. He is expected to touch on certain key issues revolving the economy and among others.
