Following a transition in goverment, President Mahama has ordered the cessation of board memberships of statutory boards, corporations, commissions and councils.
This is contained in an official notice dated Monday January 13, 2025 and signed by the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
According to the statement, such memberships ceased on January 7, 2025, the day of swearing-in of President John Dramani Mahama.
“In accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), all members of statutory boards, corporations, commissions and councils appointed by the former President or former Minister of State ceased to hold office on 7th January 2025, following assumption of office of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement said.
However, “commissions that are independent constitutional creations” are excluded.
Furthermore, the affected boards, commissions, councils and statutory corporations will be reconstituted “according to their respective enabling laws,” it added.
In effect, managements of the bodies affected are directed to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff “before taking any major decisions.”
