Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, who used to be the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said that Ghanaians no longer value politicians because of how they act.
He says that the actions of a few politicians have led to generalizations about all politicians, even though some of them are honest.
He said that most Ghanaians see politics as a way to make money quickly. Because of this, he said, Ghanaians no longer value politicians because they see them as using their power to get rich.
“If you look at the results of surveys, the respect that Ghanaians have for politicians has gone down because most of them think that politics is a way to make money,” he said on Kumasi’s Hello Fm, which MyNewsGh.com listened to.
The former Presidential Spokesperson said that it is in the best interest of leaders to change the story by acting in a way that earns back the trust of the Ghanaian people.
“This is the case because of how some leaders in the country act. These are bad models that we shouldn’t copy. Some of us lawmakers should be able to change the story.” He insisted.
The NPP flagbearer candidate made it clear that he wanted to change the way things were. He said, “My passion is for the transformation of the Ghanaian people, not just for politicians.” Politicians have to lead by example because we vote for them to take care of our resources and run the country. I’m here to introduce myself because I think God has given me skills. I’m a person with many sides.
