A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament Edward Ennin says he is ready to aid the next government in its quest to investigate corruption related issues under the Akuffo-Addo and Bawumia led administration.
The president elect, John Dramani Mahama has already announced five members; an investigative journalist, a lawyer, a former Corporal of Police, a former Auditor General and a MP to lead the quest to recover looted resources under the NPP-led government.
During an interview on UTV, the former MP for Obuasi expressed his readiness to appear before the committee to answer questions on corruption related issues.
According to him, some Ghanaian diplomats including ambassadors and high commissioners have information on the whereabouts of stolen monies of the state, especially where they are shipped.
His assertion is informed by his rare meeting with a “big personality” together with ambassadors from the UK, France and the US, adding that the sort of conversations they had had was “dangerous.”
“I was at the home of one big personality together with three ambassadors, from France, the UK and the US, and the conversation that was had there was dangerous…. The ambassadors know about all the monies that are stolen from the country and sent abroud. We are going to see what will happen,” he said.
“When it comes, i’m prepared to go before the committee. I would do this because we have to put Ghana first. When the time comes, i will go and present my evidence,” he added.
Citizens have been demanding some level of accountability from the current government due to what many have described as a proliferation of corrupt activities under the regime.
The President elect, John Mahama fused this into his campaign messages, promising to bring perpetrators to book through his Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) when given the mandate.
Mr. Mahama has just one term to be in office, as he would have exhausted the maximum term in office in 2028.
Yet, extremely much is expected of him, as many lament the damage done by the current administration.
