In a document shared across the media, the government has issued a 10% increment in base pay salaries from January 2025 to December 2025.
According to the document, the agreement was reached between the Government of Ghana, which was represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, and the Ministry of Finance as the first party, and the Organized Labour which comprises of Workers’ Union and institutions within the public service of Ghana.
In the document, it is stated that “Whereas the Parties negotiating as the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC), have concluded negotiations for the 2025 Single Spine Salary Structure Base Pay.”
The agreement was signed on February 20, 2025, by Ing. Benjamin Arthur, Chief Executive of Fair Wages and Salaries Commission; Bro. Joshua Ansah, Secretary-General of PUC, Honourable. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment; Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, Chairman of FORUM, and Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson (MP), Minister of Finance.
This agreement seeks to increase the Single Spine Salary Structure Base Pay by 10%. There are yet to be conversations regarding the impact of this increment on the quality of work provided by workers.
The directive will take effect from March 1, 2025..
