Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the finance minister says there is no freeze on employment in the government sector. His statement debunks the various rumors circulating that the government has halted employment recruitment in the various sectors following the 2025 budget presentation.
He made this statement during an interview on Channel One TV, on Wednesday, March 12.
He stated emphatically that, “There is no freeze on employment.”
He however, assured the general public that recruitment in the various government sectors will continue, based on the country’s economic status. In the interview, he also stated that the government is committed in creating jobs and ensuring improvement in employment conditions, especially for the youth of the country. This seeks to address the high unemployment rate of youth especially graduates, in the country.
Dr. Forson’s clarification on the status of recruitment in the government sectors shows the government’s commitment to fulfilling the employment policy which aims at ensuring that key sectors such as the health and education sectors, have adequate personnel for their smooth running.
As part of his State of the Nation’s address, President Mahama had mentioned that there is a policy to cater for unemployment in the country and this will particularly be reduced with the introduction of the 24-Hour Economy policy.
