The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has barred the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) candidate, Joana Cudjoe from contesting the Amenfi Central seat.
In a statement issued by the EC to her, Madam Cudjoe’s candidature has been revoked as a result of a pending interlocutory injunction case dated May 31 2024 against her. The case is being presided over by the Sekondi High Court.
Referencing the legal document, “It is ordered that until the final determination of the matter the affected parties are restrained as follows: a) The 1. Defendant/Respondent for holding herself out as the duly elected NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Amenfi Central Constituency,” the statment said.
The interlocuttory injunction suit was filed by one Gyedu Frimpong together with some four others who had doubts about the authenticity of Madam Cudjoe’s candidature ahead of the Amenfi Central Constituency race.
