The Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba says flagbearer hopeful Dr. Kwabena Duffuor abandoned a meeting held to address issues concerning the party’s upcoming primaries.
According to him, the issue of discrepancies raised by Dr. Duffuor in a lawsuit against the party could have been addressed during the said meeting.
He explained that the issues raised by the presidential aspirant are not alien to the party and that the party always makes sure such concerns are addressed. He noted that aspirants are always invited to address the situation.
“You talk about discrepancies. This happens. When these things happen, we invite the aspirants to a meeting with the election committee. And while this meeting is going on, there’s somebody who’s sitting with the computer and then the corrections are inserted. This was a meeting that would have happened yesterday but they abandoned the meeting and ran to court,” he said during an interview with JoyNews’.
The legal practitioner also noted that Dr. Duffuor’s concern about the bloated register is illegitimate because according to him, the aspirant’s team miscalculated the numbers. He said the aspirant’s camp must have left out a chunk of people who fall under different categories of voters.

Meanwhile, Dr. Duffuor’s spokesperson, Antonio Edem Asinyo for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor is optimistic about a victory for the aspirant should elections be held presently. According to him, the alleged support from some stalwarts of the party for former President Mahama does not guarantee a win for him.
Antonio is however concerned that the issue of discrepancy raised in the lawsuit could mar the primaries which comes off this week Saturday 13.
He speculated that projections and the support garnered during campaign tours of the aspirant indicate that he stands a chance to win the primaries even if the primaries are to take place before the set date.
“What we as NDC should be focusing on is winning power and whatever it is that must be done in winning power, you must do. Whether one person is winning or losing, for me, it’s irrelevant but I tell you today, Dr. Duffuor is going to win the election even if it’s done today,” he said on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday
