The Constitution Review Committee, set up by President John Dramani Mahama, to review and propose relevant amendments to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, has opened the window to receive memoranda submissions from the general public.
The Committee has called on all the relevant stakeholders, including civil society organizations, individuals and professional bodies, to submit memoranda which contains their recommendations, proposals and views for the suggested reform of the 1992 Constitution.
The secretary of the committee, Dr. Rainer Akumperigya, in a press statement, announced that the Committe has created a website for the submissions. Subsequent updates on the constitutional review will be shared on the website, as well as feedback on the various memoranda submitted. According to him, the website is interactive and will encourage discussions on key constitutional issues.
The Committe was set up by President Mahama, to address and suggest key reforms to the 1992 Constitution. It has encouraged the general public and institutions, to participate fully in this course to make meaningful contributions and ensure that the diverse perspectives of the citizenry, is captured.
According to the committee, it is collecting the memoranda through email submissions, its website, and in-person submissions to the Constitution Review Committee Secretariat.
