The Anlo Dukor Council is demanding the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin to reveal the identity of a Member of Parliament who was heard recently abusing MP for the Klottey Korley Constituency, Dr. Zenator Agyemang-Rawlings on the floor of Parliament.
A video circulating on social media reveal a loud voice of a yet to be identified MP who referred to Dr. Zenator Rawlings as “daughter of a murderer” while the leader of the Minority was delivering a speech in the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the passing of one of Ghana’s founding fathers, Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah on the floor. The incident which occurred on February 4, 2025 was met with public outrage.
However, the identity of the individual who made the utterances remain unkown.
A letter dated February 5, 2025 and signed by Togbi Agbesi Awusu II (Awadada of the Anlo Dukor) seeks to petition the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin to help identify the MP.
“I hereby petition your esteemed office in my capacity as the Awadada of Anlo Dukor acting on behalf of the Awoamefia, Togbi Sri III, the Overlord of the Anlo Duko and also on behalf of the Chiefs and people of Anloland.”
Recounting the incident, the letter said, “In the state of furore, Ghanaians and other persons all over the world who were glued to their T.V sets and listening on their radio sets heard an Honourable member shouting defamatory and obscene words to wit-shut up-“you the daughter of a murderer” ostensibly as said at Hon. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings who is the eldest daughter of the illustrious son of Anloland and a former President of the Republic of Ghana.”
“The Overlord of Anlo Dukor, Togbi Sri III, and the chiefs and people of Anlo Dukor are furious about this unfortunate development in the august house and wish to identify the Member of Parliament who made the disparaging remarks against the son of Anloland, so we can advise ourselves on the next steps to take,” said the letter.
There were suspicions that MP for Damango Consituency, Abu Jinapor was the who uttered such words but the politician has denied the accusations, saying he has great respect for former president Rawlings and her daughter.
