A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah terminates all recruitments and appointments made after December 7, 2024.
The statement dated 10th February 2025 said such appointments are not in compliance with good governance practices. Therefore, various heads of state institutions are instructed to facilitate the annullment of such recruitments and subsequently submit a comprehensive report on actions taken by February 17, 2025.
“Consistent with Government pronouncement in relation to near end of tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December, 2024 are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles.”
“Accordingly, all Heads of Government Institutions are hereby requested to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by 17th February 2025,” said the statement.
Ahead of the election, the erstwhile NPP led government under Akuffo-Addo’s presidency made several appointment to state institutions. Others were also made after the election. The action was severely criticized by the public, as the appointments were made despite signals that the governing party would be leaving power.
President John Dramani had promised to revoke all such late appointments and recruitment when he assumes office officially.
