Her goal was to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon, and she has now succeeded.
After 126 hours and 52 minutes of singing, the long-planned sing-a-thon ended around 7 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023.
There were earlier rumors about when the show would end because of unexpected breaks, but Afua beat the record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.
It was 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, when Afua crossed the 105-hour mark. This made her even more determined to make history, so she did 21 more hours.
The trip to break this record began at midnight in the village of Akwaaba on December 24, 2023.
Afua, a businesswoman who loves music, held a sing-a-thon where she only sang Ghanaian songs. Famous artists and politicians were among the people who came to watch.
A lot of Ghanaians supported the event in person and on social media, making it a show of national pride that brought everyone together.
