Michael Afrane, a Kumawood actor and member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), said that James Gyakye Quayson will keep the New Patriotic Party (NPP) seat for Assin North no matter what the NPP does.
He said that even if he is arrested and in jail before the by-election on June 27, 2023, he is sure that a large number of people will vote for him.
The former MP for Assin North Constituency and NDC Parliamentary Candidate could get 10 years of hard labor in jail if he is found guilty of perjury in court.
This is also because he was accused of running for parliament as a dual citizen in the constituency in 2020, and the Supreme Court said that his name should be taken off the list of lawmakers.
In an interview with Ambassador TV that DeHOTPRESS watched, the well-known Kumawood actor said that the people of the Assin North Constituency have seen how President Akufo-Addo’s government and the NPP have treated their Member of Parliament in a cruel and unfair way.
Michael Afrane told Osei Kwadwo, “Even though James Gyakye Quayson is in jail, the people of Assin North Constituency are eager to give him a win by voting in large numbers for him.”
Michael Afrane says, “NPP can give away all the rice and gifts in Ghana, but they will still lose the election.” Assin North Constituency is different from Kumawu Constituency, where the NPP won the by-elections by giving out rice, gari, and money. He was sure that it would never happen in Assin North.
He also said, “The people of Assin North will vote based on development, and they have seen James Gyakye Quayson lead huge development projects.” James Gyakye Quayson won’t go to jail, so NPP members should stop sharing this false information. No amount of lies can win Assin North Constituency for the NPP.
