The Public Regulatory Utilities Commission (PURC) has raised the prices of energy and natural gas for all customers by 18.36%.
A review for the second quarter of 2023 led to the decision.
In a statement, PURC said that the decision was made to avoid long power outages and their negative effects on jobs and ways of making a living while minimizing the effect of rate hikes on consumers.
The Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism aims to keep track of and account for changes in the key variables that are used to set prices for natural gas and electricity.
