Black Sherif, a musician, has stated that he never advocated for prohibiting foreign music on Ghanaian airwaves.
According to him, all he and his colleagues are advocating for in December is that artists break down barriers by giving priority to Ghanaian music.
KK Rasta, as he is commonly known, expressed disgust that his words would be misconstrued and used to disparage him.
“Where in my speech does it state that foreign music should be banned? How insane can you get if you convey that if you want to see your country’s creatives push boundaries, you should play local music for your guests and appreciate your culture? How do I collaborate with foreign producers and artists when my country prohibits foreign music? However, agendas are lies. Best of success to all individuals.”
Black Sherif and a group of music industry colleagues are determined to convince DJs and others to include Ghanaian music at the top of their playlists.
They hold the belief that prioritizing music produced in Ghana serves as an additional measure to promote the nation’s creatives.
