Two employees of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have been interdicted by the Agency on an alleged fraud including impersonation and forgery of official documents, which include the signature of the CEO, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse.
The alleged culprits, Mr. Daniel Godsway and George Amoako, according to reports, have allegedly been unlawfully reproducing official documents which bore the forged signature of the CEO of the Agency, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse. The contents of the reproduced document redirected people seeking EPA licenses to a wrong location.
According to reports, instead of the two accused officers to direct the proponents to the designated reception area, they rather included a wrong address, thereby misleading the unsuspecting proponents.
The original document which was the official document had rather instructed such proponents to Head Office at Ministries, Accra, stating specifically, the rooms that the license seekers had to report to as “rooms 404 or 405 within 48 hours with the backroom staff on detailed processes of regularizing their operations.”
The forged and unofficial document created by the accused stated that should go to the “EPA Head Office, Room B13 within 48 hours, for discussions on detailed processes of regularising their operations.”
In a memorandum signed by the CEO of EPA, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, on March 11, the actions of the officers have been described as “an egregious misrepresentation of official authority, amounting to forgery, abuse of office, and a fundamental breach of fiduciary duty.”
It also states that their actions may be in contravention of the Criminal Code, 1964 (Act 29) of Ghana, particularly under sections related to forgery, fraudulent misrepresentation and the unauthorized use of official documentation.”
Addressing the Agency’s commitment to upholding strict protocols to safeguard the integrity and authenticity of its official correspondence, the memorandum stated that any unauthorized alteration or manipulation of official documents is seen as a severe violation of institutional and legal statute and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
